Soft Close Slide Overview

These 45mm soft close drawer slides are full extension side mount runners for kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, office desks and bathroom vanities. A single spring damper inside the outer member takes over during the last part of the travel and eases the drawer shut by itself.

Steel Build and Finish

The body is cold-rolled steel with zinc plating over it, which holds up better than bare steel in steamy kitchens and humid bathrooms. The profile is a 0.8mm x 0.8mm x 1.0mm triple structure, so the outer, middle and inner members each take their own share of the load. A heavy pot drawer does not bend the rails the way it can with thin single-wall slides.

Three steel balls per side sit between the members and carry the load, which is why the action stays smooth even near the 25 kg limit. Each slide weighs about 53 g per inch of length, so the hardware itself is never a weight problem for the cabinet box. The single spring in the damper comes factory set and needs no adjustments.

Installation Guide

Start with the measurements. These side mount slides need 1/2 inch (about 12.7 mm) of clear space on each side between the drawer box and the cabinet wall, so confirm that before ordering. Choose a slide length close to the drawer depth — slightly shorter is fine, but never longer, or the drawer front will not sit flush.

Pull the two members apart, then screw the cabinet member to the inside wall of the cabinet and the drawer member to the side wall of the drawer box, both kept level from front to back. Slot the drawer back onto the runner and work it through a few full strokes so the ball bearings seat themselves.

Finish by testing the soft close: give the drawer a light push and let the damper do the rest. If it feels stiff or drifts, check that the cabinet member is plumb and that no screw head sits proud where the members meet. One person with a screwdriver and a level can fit a drawer in about ten minutes.
